About the Book

Camping, like life, rarely goes as planned. Even if you’re “glamping” in a top-of-the-line rock star bus, things can go sideways, and fast!

Climb aboard with Janet, a dog-loving rookie camper, and her fearless RV-camp-aholic boyfriend to enjoy a front-seat view of the secret and not-so-glamorous side of RV camping. You’ll find out about the ghastly and sometimes embarrassing bits that never make it into the glossy sales brochures.

Janet wasn’t planning on writing a book, let alone one about camping. But, after traveling 25,000 miles in six different RVs over a span of ten unforgettable years, the adventures (and misadventures!) piled up. There was no way she was going to keep all that to herself!

Janet’s storytelling is playful, honest, irreverent and at times shocking, but always with a healthy dose of smarty-pants. She also takes you on detours through hilarious anecdotes and side-tangents on topics ranging from white powdered donuts, RV plumbing, Shark Tank inventions, to her suffering through a State Trooper’s polygraph interrogation. Her personal perspective on luxury camping will have you in stitches!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Janet-842-Edit-Edit.jpg

Janet’s home is in Eastern Canada’s Ottawa valley, surrounded by farms, horses, and the odd chicken.  She loves barefoot walks on any beach, scruffy dogs, and the sound of laughter. Growing up, Janet enjoyed spelling bees and creative writing assignments a little too much, which likely planted the seeds for her becoming a writer today.  A look at her long and varied career would show her working as a teen protégé of Rosie the Riveter, herding data engineers, asking passengers to return their seat-backs to the upright position, and telling police officers where to go.

She has a knack for ferreting out the absurdity in any situation and wrapping it in delicious sarcasm; savagely poking fun at herself and everyone else. Janet is married (astonishingly), with a grown son and 3 stepsons. She wonders whatever possessed her to go along with 10 years of RV camping, despite regular catastrophes and embarrassing stupidity; and further ponders her motivation for telling the whole world about it. Somebody had better be laughing! Janet gushes that the writing of this book was a labor of love. However, with her tendency to agonize over every dang word, she also concedes that it was like giving birth to a piano.
